The Transport Systems Catapult (TSC) has led the development of the Technology Strategy for Intelligent Mobility in order to champion and foster a shared vision and direction for all organizations interested in this fast growing market.
Intelligent Mobility (IM) will have a profound impact on the way people and goods move around the globe. The TSC's mission is to promote sustained economic growth and wellbeing through integrated, efficient and sustainable transport systems, making the UK a world leader in transport systems innovation.
Intelligent Mobility is the smarter, greener, safer and more efficient movement of people, goods and information around the world; the future of transport. It's about harnessing innovation and emerging technologies to create more integrated, efficient and sustainable transport systems.
The opportunity for the UK is to be at the forefront of innovation in new transport products and services. The challenge is to create a people-centred, smart, sustainable and safe travel system. It marks an exciting meeting point between traditional transport and the new products and services that are emerging.
The TSC has an exciting mission and their market-aligned Technology Strategy will guide their work over the next few years. It captures eight Intelligent Mobility goals that will provide clear direction for all those working in this field. Each goal is associated with a technology roadmap and takes into account potential developments in the next 15 years. The TSC aspires to continue to lead a debate with everyone who shares an interest in Intelligent Mobility. In order to enable the collaboration and exchange of ideas, they have developed an online repository, which brings together data, materials and analysis relevant to the Technology Strategy. The online repository is a powerful visualisation and always-on discussion tool which will help to tell the Intelligent Mobility story and influence where efforts should be focused.

The launch of the Technology Strategy and the online repository provide an excellent opportunity to share work completed so far and to outline plans for the future. The TSC will continue to update and improve data and insight from a wider community. Intelligent Mobility gives the UK a tremendous opportunity but, to take advantage of this, there needs to be a shared vision with strong links and collaboration across industry, academia and government.
